As young inexperienced fisherman we all learn the pain of losing a fish from a failure of the knot. The first knot I learned to tie was the Trilene Knot off the back of a package of mono. Many slipped knots and lost fish later, my Dad showed me a different knot that changed my life: the Palomar knot.

The Palomar knot is strong and reliable and can be used to tie a hook, lure, or swivel directly to your line. It is incredibly simple and easy to tie, which makes it a great knot for anglers of all ages and skill levels. Follow the steps below to tie the knot then trim off any excess line and go fishing!
